2 Project Management Committee meeting on Jersey Progeny Testing was held under the Chairmanship of Dr Pardeep Sharma, Director, Department of Animal Husbandry Himachal Pradesh on dated 26.10.2021 at Seminar Hall of Sperm Station Palampur under Rashtriya Gokul Mission by H.P. Livestock development board.

ForThe meeting was convened by Dr Naresh Kaushal, Deputy Director cum Project Coordinator of this project and attended by Dr. Ravi Parkash, Joint Director, Animal Husbandry, Palampur, Dr RO Gupta and Dr Sujit Shah from National Dairy Development Board Anand (Gujrat), Dr Guna Shekaran, Director Central Cattle Breeding Farm Andeshnagar (U.P.). Dr Swaran Singh Sen Deputy Director Shimla, Dr Sanjeev Dhiman Deputy Director Kangra, Dr Mukesh Mahajan Assistant Director Jeori, Dr Vinay Sharma Assistant Director Sperm Station Palampur. Dr Sandeep Mishra Assistant Director Palampur Dr Varun Sankhyan, Assistant Professor Department of Animal Genetics & Breeding DGCN CSKHPKV Palampur and Dr Rajneesh Bharol Veterinary Officer.

  • The Director, Department of Animal Husbandry Himachal Pradesh, Dr Pardeep Sharma said that the Jersey Progeny Testing Project is the only Progeny Testing Project on jersey breed in the country and Himachal Pradesh has the honour to be selected for this prestigious project and that to in district Kangra. He directed all the departmental officers to work very hard to make the project successful so that high genetic merit jersey bulls will be produced and supplied to the whole country, as presently the high genetic jersey bulls are mostly imported from other countries. He further directed that all benefit of this project must be ensured to the animal breeders of this region.

The National Dairy Development Board officers said that this project is of 8.15 crores funded by the Government of India is up to year 2024 initially which can be further extended to another 5 or more year depending upon the outcome of this Project.
