Dr. Karan, the Director of Karan Hospital Palampur, has been a regular topper right through his academic career till he did his MBBS from Shimla Medical College and MS (Surgery) from PGI Chandigarh.

 

Dr. Karan was recently interviewed by Rajesh Suryavanshi,

Rajesh Suryavanshi : You have been a pioneer in the field of surgery right since you came from PGI Chandigarh, in 1985.

Dr Karan : Yes, I served as a surgeon in Civil Hospital Palampur for about 14 years.

Rajesh Suryavanshi : Why did you leave Government Job ?

Dr. Karan : I wanted to bring latest techniques of surgery in H.P. and it was not possible in Government set up, so I left job and started Private Hospital.

Rajesh Suryavanshi : Which special facilities were provided by your hospital ?

Dr. Karan : Karan hospital has been a peioneer in providing ultra modern medical facilities. Endoscopic Surgery, Laparoscopic Surgery and treatment of stones with shock waves was first introduced in the State of Himachal Pradesh by this hospital.

Rajesh Suryavanshi : Do you have facility for Dialysis too ?

Dr. Karan : Yes, Dialysis Unit has been installed.

Rajesh Suryavanshi : What new is being done now ?

Dr. Karan : We have started Rheumatology OPD (Treatment of Gathia (xfB;k) which is only such OPD in this part of Himachal Pradesh.

Dr. Suresh Verma former HOD Gynae has joined as Gynaecologist and we are doing all kinds of advance Laparoscopic Gynae Operations.

Dr. Satish Mehta, Gold Medalist, P.G.I. Chandigarh is doing advance microscopic ENT Surgery.

Head and Neck Surgery Unit has been established.

An Ultra Modern Modular Operation Theatre is being installed – the first of its kind in the state.
