Rotary Club Dharamshala Organizes Seminars on Tobacco Control Awareness in Collaboration with CATCH NGO

Dharamshala, July 7, 2023 – Rotary Club Dharamshala, in collaboration with CATCH (NGO working on the Tobacco Control Program), organized two seminars on Tobacco Control Awareness at Dr RPGMC Tanda.

The seminars aimed to educate the community about the harmful effects of tobacco and raise awareness about the provisions of the COTPA Act 2003.

The first seminar took place at Dronacharya BEd College in Rait, where students and faculty members actively participated. The second seminar was held at the Zila Parishad Hall and targeted the members of the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs). The event received significant support from various dignitaries and organizations.

Rtn Tej Singh, the newly appointed President of Rotary Club Dharamshala, and PP Rtn Ajay Sharma, the program coordinator for the awareness campaign, expressed their gratitude for the presence of esteemed guests. They acknowledged the efforts of Dr Vandana, the District Panchayat Officer (DPO) of the CMO office in Dharamshala, Dr Sakshi, and Dr Aishwarya, who provided detailed insights into the COTPA Act 2003 and shed light on the detrimental impact of tobacco use on society.

The occasion was graced by the presence of several distinguished individuals, including Rtn Vijay Sharma, VS Parmar, Rtn Sangram Singh, Rtn Vijay Jaikaria, Rtn YK Dogra, Rtn YP Sabharwal, Rtn Har Singh, Rtn Sansar Soni, Rtn PS Ranpatia, the management of Dronacharya College, Rotary Club Shahpur, and the President of Inner Wheel Club Dharamshala, along with their respective members.

In his address, the President of Rotary Club Dharamshala expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Neelam Katoch, the District Panchayat Officer, and Shri Sarvesh Bist for their unwavering support and cooperation in making the seminars a success. Their collaboration was instrumental in spreading awareness about the adverse effects of tobacco and promoting a healthier and tobacco-free society.

The seminars concluded with a renewed commitment from all participants to actively work towards curbing tobacco use and its associated health risks. The Rotary Club Dharamshala, in conjunction with CATCH NGO, pledged to continue organizing such informative events to create a greater impact in the fight against tobacco and its detrimental consequences on public health.
