The event was held at the Major Somnath Sharma Smriti Vatika near Neugal Cafe in Palampur.
Senior IAS Officer (Retired) P C Katoch was the chief guest. The chairman of the Dhauladhar Sewa Samiti, Thakur Ravinder Singh Ravi, and the president of the samiti, Sachin Verma, were also present. Saplings were also planted in the vatika.
The flag unfurling ceremony was held to honor the freedom and sacrifice of those who fought for India’s independence. The national anthem was sung and attendees stood in solemnity.
Thakur Ravinder Singh Ravi gave a speech about the importance of environmental conservation. He said that the sacrifices of freedom fighters are similar to the sacrifices that we need to make to protect our environment. Retired Deputy Commissioner P C Katoch also spoke at the event and commended the samiti for its dedication to social service and environmental preservation.
The event also included a tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s freedom. Attendees observed a moment of silence in their memory.
The event ended with patriotic songs and a renewed sense of dedication to the values of freedom, sacrifice, and environmental protection. The Dhauladhar Sewa Samiti’s celebration of Independence Day was a testament to the indomitable spirit of the nation and its ongoing commitment to a brighter, ecologically sustainable future.
