Suspecting NHAI Authorities Work Culture: Residents Fear for Safety as National Highway Patch Deteriorates Rapidly

Residents near Sangam Marriage Palace Arla, near Maranda, Palampur, are expressing grave concerns over the state of a 20-meter stretch of the national highway, which has rapidly deteriorated, posing severe risks to commuters, especially two-wheeler owners. The road, freshly tarred just a month ago, has already fallen into disrepair, with deep potholes and uneven surfaces emerging without any significant rainfall.

The deteriorating condition of the road, particularly evident at a sharp turn opposite the mentioned establishment, has led residents to question the quality of workmanship and materials used in its construction. Many suspect mismanagement of funds and possible collusion between NHAI officials and the contracted parties, resulting in substandard work that compromises public safety.

“The road is broken and pressed down in the middle, making it extremely hazardous for motorists, especially during nighttime or adverse weather conditions,” expressed a concerned local resident. “We fear that if immediate action is not taken by NHAI, a major accident is inevitable, endangering lives and property.”

Images circulating within the community depict the sorry state of the road, fueling suspicions of foul play and negligence in its construction. Residents are calling for swift intervention by NHAI authorities to address the issue before further accidents occur.
