Yesterday, June 4, marked the birthday of the late Dr. Shiv Kumar, an internationally acclaimed social worker and renowned doctor whose remarkable contributions continue to inspire many. As the founder of the Palampur Rotary Eye Foundation, Dr. Shiv Kumar established the MMS Rotary Eye Hospital Maranda in Palampur, recognized as North India’s premier eye hospital equipped with ultra-modern instruments worth crores of rupees.
Dr. Shiv Kumar was revered as a beacon of hope for the poor, downtrodden, and needy. His altruistic efforts extended beyond the medical field, encompassing the establishment of old age homes, children’s homes, vocational training institutes, educational institutions, and the Rotary Children and Women Care Hospital. Under his leadership, the Palampur Rotary Eye Foundation flourished, providing free eye care to thousands and transforming lives with the gift of sight.
Dr. Shiv Kumar’s dedication to society was unparalleled. He devoted his life to serving others, earning nothing for himself and pouring all resources into his charitable endeavors. His honesty and integrity also marked his tenure as a politician and MLA, where he worked tirelessly to improve his community.
