— In a proactive effort to address operational challenges and explore new revenue streams, Dr. Rajeev Kumar, IAS, Managing Director of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC), visited HPTDC Hotel Chansal at Rohru today. Despite it being a holiday, Dr. Kumar prioritized the visit to ensure the smooth functioning of the hotel.
During the visit, Dr. Kumar identified a critical shortage of staff at Hotel Chansal, which has been affecting its service quality. He assured that the issue will be resolved promptly, emphasizing the importance of adequate staffing in maintaining the hotel’s standards and guest satisfaction.
In addition to addressing the staffing concerns, Dr. Kumar explored the possibility of constructing a marriage banquet hall within the hotel premises. Recognizing the potential for increased revenue, he discussed the feasibility of this project with the hotel management. “A banquet hall can serve dual purposes by not only catering to local wedding events but also attracting large-scale functions and conferences, thus boosting our revenue significantly,” Dr. Kumar stated.
On his return journey to Shimla, Dr. Kumar also made an unscheduled visit to HPTDC Hotel at Khadapathar. This stop was part of his ongoing initiative to conduct on-the-ground assessments of various HPTDC properties, ensuring that they meet the expected standards of service and management.
Dr. Kumar’s visits highlight his commitment to improving the infrastructure and operations of HPTDC hotels, aiming to enhance the overall experience for tourists and guests in Himachal Pradesh.
