A shocking scandal has come to light in a charitable health institute in the surroundings of district Kangra, where widespread corruption and nepotism have been thriving under the guise of philanthropy. Sources reveal that the chairman of the hospital, backed by political pressure, has been awarding lucrative contracts to vendors of his choice, flouting all norms of transparency and fairness.
Recently, and also 2-3 years back, despite receiving the lowest quotations, ACP board orders were awarded to persons of choice who submitted fake quotations. The actual vendors who offered the lowest rates were denied the job work, revealing a clear case of corruption and favoritism.
The corruption racket involves the awarding of various jobs such as interior decoration, furniture purchase, renovation, printing jobs, and supply of ACP boards, among others, on fake quotations to favored individuals and a particular community. This has resulted in a massive drain on the institute’s resources, meant for the welfare of the people.
Despite the manager’s boasts of a “corruption-free” hospital, evidence suggests that the administration has been complicit in the wrongdoing, completing formalities in a manner that facilitates the corrupt practices. The extent of the corruption is staggering, with allegations of anomalies worth crores of rupees yet to be exposed.
The chairman and administration have been accused of exploiting their positions to further their personal interests, undermining the very purpose of the charitable institute. The lack of accountability and oversight has enabled this rampant corruption to continue unchecked for years.
This exposé raises serious questions about the governance and integrity of the institute, and demands immediate action from the authorities to investigate and bring the culprits to book. The people of Kangra district deserve better, and it is time for transparency and accountability to be restored in this charitable health institute.
