INDIA REPORTER TODAY

PALAMPUR : RAJESH SURYAVANSHI

Respected Sh. Jai Ram Thakur ji,

I would like to bring to your notice that some essential service providersh ave been left out from the list of front line workers released by the government to facilitate and price essential commodities and services to the society. They are risking their lives and inadvertently putting at risk lives of people they come in contact with….

The staff of many departments, corporations and boards of the state government have been included in the category of front line workers. It was disheartening to know that employees of HP State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) have not been included in the list of front lines to prioritize their vaccination. I would like to draw your attention towards death of employees of HPSEBL that have taken place recently around Palampur due to this dreaded disease Sh Arjun Sugh Lineman and Sh. Mahinder Singh, Foreman, were both posted HPSEBL Electrical Division Palampur, have died of COVID-19. There are more than 10 other employees posted at HPSEBL Division Palampur (mely T mates under the age of 45) who are infected by COVID-19 and are under home isclation. The employees of HPSEBL come in contact with people when they are made to address problems and provide services such as meter reading billing, repair etc. There is a fair amount of chance that these employees of HPSEL may have contracted this infection while they were discharging their duties.

Similarly, a disparity of sorts was noticed when the list excluded employees and delivery men of gas agencies. The state level co-ordinator of Oil industry, Himachal Pradesh has also written to the worthy Chief Secretary, HP, to recognise petrol pump and gas agency employees as front line workers vide his letter No SLC/COVID VACCINATION dated 12 April 2011 The gas cylinders are delivered at houses of consumers by these delivery men. They are in regular direct contact with consumers and their families Both above mentioned examples are that of essential services which are

needed on day to day basis. I request you to prioritize vaccination of all employees of HPSEBL and Gas agenoies immediately so that they are not at risk of contracting the virus.

Regards
Ashish Butel, MLA, PALAMPUR
