Dr Dinesh Sood retired after rendering selfless services to the public of Himachal

After rendering his yeoman services towards medical diagnostics and treatment to several thousands of people in Himachal, Dr Dinesh Sood formally relinquished charge as Professor & Head Department of Radiodiagnosis Dr Rajendra Prasad Medical college Tanda upon attaining superannuation on 30/11/2021.

Throughout his medical profession he worked for HP Health and family welfare Department. He joined the department in Aug 1983 as MEDICAL OFFICER in a dispensary Tihri in remotest village in Kangra District after graduating (MBBS) from IGMC Shimla. He also served in newly inaugurated 30 bedded rural hospital Chadiar which was considered to be very difficult station & rendered day and night services to remoteChanger area .Later he did MD in department of Radiodiagnosis from IGMC Shimla and worked as specialist at RH Thural & later at SD Hospital Palampur. He joined Dr Rajendra Prasad Govt Medical College (RPGMC), Tanda in november 1997 as a Senior resident when it was just being conceived. He was one of the pioneers to help set up Radiology department from scratch which is now considered to be among the best department with an annual turnover of 1.4 lacs radiological procedures and reputed centre imparting training to MD,DNB,MBBS and BSc students. This department is providing supportive and critical services to poor patients from remotest areas of HP and meeting the ever increasing technical requirements of various Super Specialists departments coming up in RPGMC Tanda.

He was examiner to nine medical universities .He also rendered services to MCI,NMC as Assessor and DNB (Radiodiagnosis) as examiner.

Principal- RPGMC, Dr Bhanu Awasthi honoured him and his wife Dr Sneh Sood by presenting a cap, shawl followed by distinguished members of the faculty who also presented the couple beautiful Mementoes, Gifts in appreciation of his work and dedication. Dr Bhanu, fondly recalled his long association and camaraderie with Dr Dinesh Sood while bidding him adieu (farewell) and wishing him a happy Life-post Retirement. The various Faculty members & Office bearer of TAMCOT profusely thanked Dr Dinesh Sood for setting up and establishing the Deptt so well and recounted the milestones achieved during his leadership (tenure). Amidst serving of refreshments and tea/coffee more prominent amongst the achievements enumerated as follows:

1. Got permission to run Post Graduation courses in Radiology including MD & DNB and got courses recognised from MCI & DNB after a lot of efforts and follow-up.

2. Introduced Graduation Course – BSc Radiography and got it recognized too so that students don’t face any problem in placement etc. 3. Selection, Procurement and installation of Expensive, state of art, high tech Diagnostic Machines like MRI, CT COLOR Doppler ,Mammography & running & maintaining these despite many constraints.

4. Switch over from Analog to Digital mode to keep pace with latest trends in field of diagnostics.

5. Long & impeccable 38 years of Services in Medical Field.

Soon thereafter, PG Residents, BSc students & the office staff also joined in felicitating and honouring Dr Dinesh by garlanding him & presenting Momentoes and Insignia which were gracefully acknowledged amidst emotional words of thanks and gratitude.

All the close family members of Dr Dinesh & Dr Sneh Sood,who had especially arrived in from distant places, welcomed him whole heartedly after RETIREMENT with open arms, hugs and celebrations

It was past noon already and lunch time. Everyone present was treated to a sumptuous Kangri Dhaam which was tasty and satisfying the palate.

Profusely thanking one and all Dr Dinesh Sood said it was an Emotional and very special day at the fag end of his service career and vowed to continue offering his services for the welfare and treatment even after retirement. He said he now felt RECHARGED & not RETIRED and gave full credit to excellent teamwork amongst Staff, faculty and also Medical Students aided by good planning and support of superiors & worthy College Principal.

Many doctors go out of their way for us. They go above and beyond what they are called upon to do.

Dr. Dinesh Sood is one of them , a dedicated, thoughtful, and a compassionate doctor. He always went above and beyond to work tirelessly towards helping his patients to be in their best health. India Reporter today wish him a very healthy retired and active life
