Two non-official members of Palampur nominated in DLCC

A notification has been issued by the Himachal Pradesh Forest Department recently through His Excellency the Governor on the recommendation of the Standing Committee of National Board for Wildlife, in which a 10-member District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) has been constituted for district Kangra, in which 8 government and 2 non-official members have been appointed who will work to deal with human wildlife conflicts.

There is a wave of happiness among the wildlife lovers and local people here on the appointment of the above two non-official members from Palampur.

In view of the excellent work being done for the forests and wildlife by Dr R.S. Kishtwaria and Bonny Mitchel, have been nominated in this prestigious District Level Committee.

It is worth mentioning here that Dr. Kistwaria was retired as Associate Professor from Agricultural University in 2012 and has been a Wildlife Expert Consultant during his tenure.

Both of them have also been working for the welfare of wildlife as a member of The Palampur Welfare & Environment Protection Forum.

Deputy Commissioner Kangra, SP Kangra, Deputy Director Animal Husbandry, Department Kangra, Deputy Director Horticulture, Deputy Director Agriculture, Superintending Engineer PWD Kangra, Central University Dharamshala representative, DFO cum Wildlife Warden Dharamshala were appointed among the government members of DLCC.

About Labon Bonny Mitchel…

Albon Bonny Mitchell, born in Shillong on 10th of March 1950, had his schooling in a tea garden, came to Palampur with his Parents and sister in January 1967.

His father was a Tea Planter and his mother a Khasi from Meghalaya a house wife.

His father came to Palampur as a social worker to resettle the Tibetan refugees in Bir & Chauntra.

This family took a fancy to Palampur and stayed on here. His father passed away in June 1972 and mother in May 1976 and sister passed away in 1994 who was married here.

Bonny called Palampur as his home and stayed on here,  started a fabrication (Steel) unit in Maranda.

He did his diploma in Machine tools from Don Bosco Technical School Shillong and is a successful enterpreneur specialising in Steel Structure. He is a social activist and is engaged in the work of garbage, Drugs trafficking and Plantation

He has contributed to many Children Schooling and is always willing to help those in need. He is an active member of Palampur Welfare and Environment Protection Forum.

He says his roots are here and would work. for the betterment of Palampur. He was just 17 year of age when he came here and is now 73 years of age but is still in perfect health.

As he says he has miles to go before he sleeps.

His hobby is to rescue animals. He has at present 6 dogs, 3 cats and a gaddi goat. His other hobby is to modify cars and bikes.

You can always count on him if you ever need his help or advice. We find in him a multi talented person who can solve many problems.

Never say die” is his motto.

And never say ‘No’ till you have tried.

He says he is honoured and excited to be one of the non official member of DLCC and is looking forward to be able to do and contribute towards making Himachal a much better place to live in.
