Students, faculty, and staff at Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya (HPKV) have urged the Chief Minister to appoint a regular vice-chancellor soon. The post has been lying vacant since August 21, 2023, after the previous VC, Professor H.K. Choudhary, retired.

It is worth mentioning here that the post of Vice-Chancellor for Ch. Sarvan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya (CSKHPKV), Palampur, has been lying vacant for over a month now, after the previous VC, Professor H.K. Choudhary, retired on August 21, 2023. This has led to a backlog of important work, as the acting VC does not have all the powers of a regular VC.

Students, faculty, and staff at HPKV have been demanding the appointment of a new VC, but the government has not yet taken any steps in this regard. The issue is likely to be raised by opposition MLAs in the monsoon session of the Vidhan Sabha, and the government will be under pressure to respond.

The appointment of a new VC is crucial for the smooth functioning of HPKV. The university is one of the leading agricultural universities in the country, and it plays a vital role in the development of the agricultural sector in Himachal Pradesh.
