Cracking Down on the Kullu Police’s Grip on the Mafia”

The police in Kullu have made significant seizures of illicit substances in two separate incidents under the jurisdiction of Manali and Kullu police stations. During a search operation and checkpoint near the Truck Union in Manali on June 28, 2023, the police team apprehended Rajneesh alias Raju, son of Mr. Raju Ram, a resident of Shilbadani village, Padhar tehsil, Mandi district, with the possession of 421 grams of cannabis. The accused has been arrested and charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Manali police station. He will be presented before the honorable court, and the police will seek remand for further investigation.

Allegations under the Excise Act:
On June 27, 2023, two cases were registered at the Kullu police station under the Excise Act. During the search of vehicles with registration numbers HP66 7613 and HP-Temp, and a pickup truck, the police found 13 crates of Royal Stag whiskey (156 bottles), 20 crates of Santra whiskey (240 bottles), and 14 crates of Tuborg beer (168 bottles) in the possession of Jonu Masih, son of Mr. Kalu Ram from Ganv Vadao, Govind Ram, son of Mr. Kebu Ram from Ganv Parganu, and Bhuntar and Moti Ram, son of Mr. Gyan Chand from Ganv Chunar, Bachhut, Tihara Banjar tehsil. Additionally, illegal liquor (10 liters) was seized from Ajay Rai, son of Mr. Shankar Rai, from Ganv Babeli, Jindaur, Kullu district, at the Babeli Chinese Dhaba.
The police are intensifying their investigations into these incidents, aiming to crack down on the influence of the mafia and illegal activities in the Kullu region.
