Deputy Commissioner Ashutosh Garg chaired a review meeting today to assess the damage caused by the floods. He stated that the district administration is committed to providing all possible assistance to the flood-affected individuals. He instructed the revenue officials to promptly assess the damages caused by heavy rainfall and prepare reports so that the correct number of affected people can be determined, and relief funds can be provided accordingly. The situation in the district is gradually returning to normalcy. He mentioned that information from the teams sent to the disaster-affected areas has been received, and a strategy for relief and rehabilitation is being prepared accordingly.

The official stated that work is underway to connect the major tourist destination Kasol with communication facilities, and mobile services will be available by evening. Additionally, telecom services are being provided in the Senj and Banjar regions through VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) sets. VSAT sets will be installed in Senj and Banjar by this evening, and mobile services will commence. Instructions were also given to the officials of BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) to rectify the damaged fiber in Banjar. In the meeting, he mentioned that out of 648 drinking water schemes in the district, 175 schemes have been restored after being affected by the floods. Efforts are underway to restore the traffic route for transportation in the major tourist destination, Kasol, by Friday evening.

He assured that there is no shortage of essential commodities in the district, and a continuous supply of LPG gas, petrol, diesel, and other items has been ensured. He directed the officials of the Food and Civil Supplies Department to ensure an adequate supply of ration at reasonable prices in the shops. The official mentioned that medicines are being sent to the distant hospitals in the district, and he instructed to send the necessary medicines to Banjar. This is to ensure that people do not face any difficulties. He also instructed the Block Development Officers to install swing bridges in the place of damaged bridges in the affected areas, so that communication can be ensured in those regions.

Furthermore, he stated that the electricity supply is gradually being restored in the district. In the meeting, it was mentioned that due to the floods, 97 transformers have been damaged or washed away. Out of 1849 transformers in the district, 1061 transformers are functioning properly.

Deputy Commissioner Ashutosh Garg visited the flood-affected Banjar area today. During the visit, he interacted with the affected people, inquired about their well-being, and assured them that the state government stands with them in this difficult time.
