Deputy Commissioner Ashutosh Garg chaired the District Department Heads Meeting today

Deputy Commissioner Ashutosh Garg, while presiding over the District Department Heads Meeting today, urged all department officials to work together with mutual coordination and harmony. This is to effectively deal with the situation arising from heavy rainfall and floods. He stated that the district administration is giving top priority to the rehabilitation of those affected by the floods and heavy rainfall. Significant steps have been taken in this regard.

He mentioned that temporary relief and rehabilitation centers have been established at Government College Kullu, Roma Community Hall, Samrat Hall Bus Stand, Government Primary School Lanka Bakar, and Rain Basera Bus Stand. Additionally, temporary relief and rehabilitation centers have also been set up in Baba Balak Nath Sarai and Mahila Mandal Shastri Nagar to accommodate those affected by floods and heavy rainfall. He further stated that the district administration has made arrangements for their food and accommodation and assigned the responsibility of overseeing this task to the Forest Range Officer of Kullu and the Forest Officer Shamsi. He also mentioned that the responsibility of water supply in the relief and rehabilitation centers has been entrusted to the Water Resources Department. Due to heavy rainfall and resulting floods, Manali, Kasol, and Tirthan Ghati have completely lost communication. There is no information available regarding the situation and damages in these areas. Efforts are being made to restore mobile networks in Manali, Kasol, and Tirthan Ghati, and senior officials from BSNL, Airtel, and Jio have been asked to take necessary steps to restore mobile network services.

He stated that the power supply in the district has also been severely affected, and efforts are being made to ensure alternative power supply through the Malana Hydroelectric Project. He mentioned that a police constable has been sent to Malana with a satellite phone to establish contact with the management of the Malana Hydroelectric Project, enabling the restoration of power supply. He instructed the Water Resources Department to ensure water supply through borewells and gravity water supply schemes until the piped water supply schemes are restored. He also directed the department to provide water to relief centers through tankers.

He also instructed the Public Works Department to take necessary steps to restore blocked roadways for the resumption of traffic flow. He mentioned that communication has also been completely cut off from Kasol-Manikaran Ghati, and satellite phones are being sent to gather information about the situation and damages in that area. He gave instructions to the police department to prepare a list of tourists staying in various hotels and homestays in the district. He directed the Forest Department officials to prepare a list of people accommodated in temporary relief and rehabilitation centers. He stated that the Water Resources Department, Public Works Department, and Electricity Department are being provided with funds for piped water supply schemes, road restoration, and power supply restoration. Present in the meeting were Superintendent of Police Sakshi Verma, Additional District Magistrate Prashant Sarkheg, DFO Kullu Angel Chauhan, DFO Shamsi Praveen Thakur, Executive Engineer Rajeev Sharma from Public Works, SE Jal Shakti Vibhag, and officials from various departments.
