It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Ghanshyam Bhatnagar, father of Dr. Mukul Bhatnagar, Head of the Department of Cardiology at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College (RPGMC) and Hospital, Tanda. Mr. Bhatnagar died on June 2, 2024, after a prolonged battle with diabetes, heart disease, and kidney disease. He was 82 years old.
Mr. Bhatnagar held an MSc in Zoology and began his career as a lecturer in the Himachal Pradesh Education Department. He served in various locations, including Sunni, Hatwar, and Nalagarh.
His tenure as Principal included positions in Kalpa, Bhabanagar, Garhjamula, Subathu, and Rampur. He also served as the District Education Officer (DEO) in Kullu and later as Deputy Director in Shimla, retiring in 2000.
He is survived by his two sons, Prankur and Dr. Mukul Bhatnagar.
Dr. Mukul, a respected cardiologist, has been a pillar of support for his father during his prolonged illness.
Mr. Ghanshyam Bhatnagar’s legacy extends beyond his professional achievements. He was known for his humility, kindness, and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life. His colleagues and students often spoke of his exceptional teaching methods and his ability to inspire and motivate those around him.
His contributions to the field of education in Himachal Pradesh have left an indelible mark.
