In a remarkable testament to dedication and commitment, Dr. Rajesh Kumar Sood recently superannuated as Additional Director of Agriculture, North Zone, Dharamshala, after a distinguished service tenure of 33 years, 11 months, and 17 days..

It is worth mentioning here that throughout his long and illustrious career, Dr. Sood’s journey has been a story of continuous growth, expertise, and valuable contributions to the Department of Agriculture.

Dr. Sood embarked on his journey in the Department of Agriculture on 15th July 1989 as an Agriculture Development Officer at the Office of Deputy Director of Agriculture in Chamba.
His initial years in the field were marked by hard work and a strong passion for agriculture, which earned him appreciation from his colleagues and superiors.
His dedication did not go unnoticed, and he was later transferred to SMF Paprola, where he continued to serve diligently until July 2010.

 

Recognizing his exceptional capabilities, Dr. Sood was promoted and took on the role of Subject Matter Specialist at Amb O/o DDA Una on 22nd July 2010.
His profound knowledge and innovative approach to agricultural challenges led to significant improvements in the region’s agricultural practices.
Dr. Sood’s tireless efforts and results-oriented approach caught the attention of his seniors, which led to subsequent transfers to crucial posts in various regions.

On 20th January 2011, Dr. Sood was transferred to the prestigious position of SDSCO (Soil and Water Conservation Officer) at Dehra, where he played a vital role in promoting sustainable agricultural practices and conservation techniques.
It is noteworthy that his impact was widely acknowledged, and on 14th March 2013, he was entrusted with the responsibilities of SDSCO Palampur, a position that further highlighted his expertise and leadership in the agricultural domain.

The pinnacle of Dr. Sood’s career was reached when he was appointed as Block Project Manager for JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) at Nurpur (Chetru) on 19th December 2016. This role allowed him to engage in critical projects aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and strengthening rural communities.

His exemplary performance didn’t go unnoticed, and he was subsequently given the responsibility of District Project Manager at JICA Palampur.

The accolades and appreciation continued to flow as Dr. Sood’s dedication and commitment earned him promotion to the esteemed position of Joint Director of Agriculture.
He held this position with distinction and was entrusted with leading the prestigious Directorate of SAMETI (State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute) in Mashobra, Shimla, from 7th February 2022 to 20th May 2023.
Under his leadership, SAMETI witnessed remarkable progress in enhancing the skills and capabilities of agricultural professionals, benefitting the entire agricultural sector.

On 20th May 2023, Dr. Rajesh Kumar Sood embraced yet another significant role as Additional Director of Agriculture, North Zone, Dharamshala. During his brief stint in this position, he continued to provide valuable guidance and leadership, solidifying his legacy as a distinguished agricultural expert and administrator.

As he retired on 30th June 2023, Dr. Sood’s 33-year journey in the Department of Agriculture was celebrated not only for its duration but also for the tremendous impact he made on agricultural development and management. Throughout his tenure,
Dr. Sood’s relentless pursuit of excellence, innovative approach, and unwavering dedication to the betterment of the agricultural community have left an indelible mark on the department.
