In a bid to foster community involvement in the fight against tuberculosis (TB), a workshop under the Janbhagidari campaign was organized in Dharamshala, drawing 45 participants.
The workshop aimed to empower community members in supporting persons with TB (PwTB) through a dialect-focused approach.
The Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) announced plans to collaborate with Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to offer psychosocial support and microfinance assistance to PwTB, enhancing their overall well-being and socioeconomic status.
Additionally, a live workshop on the Prime Minister’s TB-Free India initiative, conducted by Nikshay Mitra, shed light on the registration process, simplifying access to essential services for TB patients.
Dr. RK Sood, District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO) of Kangra, addressed the prevalent issue of stigma surrounding TB.
He emphasized that TB patients cease to be infectious once they commence treatment, debunking myths and advocating for inclusion rather than isolation.
Dr. Sood highlighted that separate utensils or isolation measures are unnecessary.
