In a grand event celebrating women’s achievements across various fields, Dr. Sharon Negi Kandari, the Head of the Department of Nephrology at AIIMS Rishikesh, was awarded the prestigious Outstanding Women Award.
The ceremony, organized by Amar Ujala and Auto Gallery Honda, took place at Jai Shree Farm on Dehradun Road, Rishikesh, honoring 24 women for their remarkable contributions in different domains, from medicine to social service.
Dr. Sharon Negi Kandari, a leading nephrologist, has made significant strides in the field of kidney care and treatment, contributing to improving healthcare standards in Uttarakhand. The award ceremony, known as the Naari Shakti Samman, was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bahuguna, who emphasized the critical role women have played in the development of Uttarakhand, from its formation to its growth. “Women in Uttarakhand have carried the weight of the economy as well as managing their homes and families. Today, they are walking shoulder to shoulder with men in every field,” said Bahuguna.
The minister further highlighted the government’s commitment to empowering women through various schemes related to agriculture, fisheries, and youth employment.

Some of the other awardees included Kusum Joshi for her work in drug de-addiction, Neerja Goyal for her achievements in para-olympics, and Dr. Manju Badola for her contributions to education.
The event featured a traditional swasti vachan by the students of Shri Jayaram Sanskrit College, followed by speeches from dignitaries, including Bahuguna. The evening was marked by inspirational stories of women who have excelled in their respective fields, despite challenges.
