Golden Jubilee of H.P. Statehood, International Women Day celebrated with enthusiasm and gaiety

Palampur 8 March. In commemoration to Golden Jubilee of H.P. Statehood, International Women Day was celebrated at CSK Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University with enthusiasm and gaiety, here today.

While addressing the University staff and students, Chief Guest Ms. Indu Goswami, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), extended greeting to all on the occasion. She narrated the history and status of women in India. She said that Indians pay respects to mother earth and goddess but we need to ponder over the matter beginning from the ancient times to present situation. In some parts of the country, large scale discrimination continues against women despite the fact that some Indian women have achieved much worldwide.

The chief guest said that women reservation has been able empower the women in Himachal Pradesh . Ms Indu Goswami said that women are creators so cannot be considered weak. They have innate leadership qualities.She advised ladies to empower other ladies in their surroundings The Chief Guest also elaborated some useful schemes of Govt of India and Govt of H.P. especially for the women and asked all ladies to avail these.She asked enlightened ladies  to provide direction and effective leadership to the society. She exhorted young girls to join politics and improve the political dialogue and clean it if they find some flaws in it.

While presiding over the function Prof H.K.Chaudhary, Vice-Chancellor, paid his deep gratitude to women. He said that mother earth was giving life to humanity. He also remembered his late mother Smt.Tripta Devi and acknowledged the contributions of his wife Dr.Parveen Lata in his career growth.

    The Vice-Chancellor said that even after celebrating international women day for the last one century discrimination against women continues. He said that there is need that all ladies maintain good relations among themselves also and there be no discrimination between daughter and daughter-in-law. He also remembered some young achievers of H.P. like youngest Zila Parishad Chairperson Muskan,  Ms. Geeta printed in Who calendar for playing pivotal role in vaccination, Army officer Shveta,  etc. and asked the students to imbibe their grit and determination to become achievers and helping changing the destiny of the state and nation.

Dr.Yadwinder Singh Dhaliwal, Dean, College of Community Science, in his welcome address, detailed about major achievements of his 30 years old institution.

Ms.Jyoti Sharma Bhardwaj, Director, Gunjan NGO, Dharmashala, delivered a special talk on “ Women in leadership: achieving an equal future in Covid-19.”

The Chief Guest honoured  University first lady Dr.(Mrs.) Parveen Lata Chaudhary and  an alumni of the University Dr. Swati Gupta, HAS,  Assistant Commissioner. She also presented mementos to some NGO representative like Ms.Deena, Suresh Lata Awasthy and Damini Mishra.

She also honoured university health centre lady staff Dr. Anjana Tuli, Dr. Priyanka Rana and Kanchan and other university lady staff members  Panna Chodan, Sanjana, Simro Devi, Sudarshana Devi, Hema , Soma, Usha Devi, Urmila, Sunila Devi, Salochna, Ayodhya Devi, Rattan Devi, Nirmal , Pushpa Devi, Lata devi, neelam kumarai raj rani, lalaita devi, kamlesh kumara, Disha , Sarita devi,  Pooja, Rani, Pataso, Ajnjali, Pinni Devi, Mamta, Pooja Kumari, Rita, Saroj Bala, Sunita Singh, Varsha, Vanita and Poona Devi. Some research staff members of the college Aruna Rana, Satya Bhama, Archna Sharma, Goldy Chopra and Anju Kapur and Archna Sood were also honoured.

Some publications were also released to mark the occasion. Dr.Ranjana Sharma and Dr Sapna Gautam also expressed their views.

In addition to University Statutory officers and  all women staff members attended the celebrations. All covid-19 related precautions and SoPs were followed during the programme.
