Mrs. Kusum Rana’s dedication and visionary leadership stand as a testament to her belief in the transformative power of education. Her journey inspires countless individuals, and her institution, Viveka Foundations, continues to make an indelible mark on the landscape of education.

Rajesh Suryavanshi: Mrs. Rana, with over 35 years of experience in the education sector, how would you describe your journey as an educationist?

Kusum Rana: Thank you for having me, Mr. Suryavanshi. My journey has been both fulfilling and transformative. From my early days teaching in Kendriya Vidyalayas, Army schools, and convent institutions, to establishing Viveka Foundations, each phase has been a learning curve. Education, for me, is a noble endeavor to inspire young minds and shape their future. The milestones achieved along the way reflect the collective efforts of dedicated teams and a shared vision for excellence in education.

Rajesh Suryavanshi: Viveka Foundations is a remarkable institution under your leadership. Could you share the philosophy behind its inception?

Kusum Rana: The philosophy behind Viveka Foundations stems from Swami Vivekananda’s teachings, which emphasize character-building and holistic development. We wanted to create an institution that not only imparts academic knowledge but also nurtures critical thinking, creativity, and moral values. Our focus has always been on stress-free, hands-on learning that prepares students for real-world challenges while fostering a love for lifelong learning.

Rajesh Suryavanshi: Viveka Foundations is known for its state-of-the-art facilities. How do these contribute to the learning experience?

Kusum Rana: Facilities play a crucial role in enhancing the learning environment. At Viveka Foundations, our smart classrooms, STEM labs, language labs, and well-stocked library provide students with modern tools for exploration and discovery. The mini zoo, sports facilities, and extracurricular opportunities ensure holistic development, balancing academics with creative and physical growth. Each aspect of the campus is designed to create a stimulating and secure environment for our students.

Rajesh Suryavanshi: Your initiatives, like the Language Lab Center for English Learning, have been highly impactful. What inspired you to establish it?

Kusum Rana: The Language Lab was born from a need to bridge communication gaps and equip learners with essential language skills. I observed that students and professionals often struggled with effective communication, which is critical in today’s globalized world. The lab catered to diverse learners, from students to homemakers, and the success stories that emerged reinforced my belief in the power of education to transform lives.

Rajesh Suryavanshi: Could you elaborate on the innovative teaching methods employed at Viveka Foundations?

Kusum Rana: Certainly. At Viveka Foundations, we encourage experiential learning. Our teachers employ “learning by doing” strategies, integrating practical activities into theoretical lessons. For instance, STEM labs promote hands-on problem-solving, while creative projects foster teamwork and critical thinking. Additionally, we regularly update our pedagogy to incorporate new technologies and global teaching practices, ensuring that our students are well-prepared for the future.

Rajesh Suryavanshi: Your vision emphasizes stress-free education. How do you achieve that in a competitive academic environment?

Kusum Rana: Stress-free education is about creating a supportive and engaging environment where students feel motivated rather than pressured. At Viveka Foundations, we focus on individualized attention, promoting curiosity, and offering extracurricular opportunities to balance academic rigor. We also provide counseling services to help students navigate challenges and prioritize mental well-being.

Rajesh Suryavanshi: You’ve received numerous awards and recognitions for your work. Which achievement holds the most significance for you?

Kusum Rana: While every recognition is an honor, the most significant achievement is seeing our students excel and become confident, responsible individuals. Awards like the FAP National Award and the recognition of Viveka Foundations as the Best Residential School in Academic Performance by Careers360 validate our efforts, but the true reward lies in the smiles and success stories of our students.

Rajesh Suryavanshi: What role has your family played in your journey as an educationist?

Kusum Rana: My family has been my pillar of support. My husband, Col. (Retd.) S.S. Rana, shares my vision for education and has been instrumental in establishing Viveka Foundations. Our sons, who serve in the armed forces, inspire me with their discipline and dedication to the nation. Their encouragement has been a driving force behind my endeavors.

Rajesh Suryavanshi: What message would you like to convey to aspiring educationists and young learners?

Kusum Rana: To aspiring educationists, I would say, remain committed to your vision and never stop learning. Education is a powerful tool to shape society, and it requires passion and perseverance. To young learners, embrace curiosity and never fear failure. The journey of learning is lifelong, and every step contributes to your growth and success.

Rajesh Suryavanshi: Lastly, what are your plans for the future of Viveka Foundations?

Kusum Rana: We plan to expand our initiatives to incorporate more global educational practices and enhance our focus on innovation and technology. Additionally, we aim to strengthen our community outreach programs and continue fostering an environment where every student can thrive. Our mission is to make Viveka Foundations a hub of excellence and a beacon of holistic education.
