Roads are the lifeline of development. Developmental work is not possible without road construction. The contribution of roads is very important for the development of any country or state. However, the geographical conditions of Himachal are quite challenging. Simultaneously, Himachal faced the global covid pandemic for two years as the rest of the world did, Despite all these difficulties, setting a new record in road construction work is being considered a big achievement of the Jairam government.

Road construction in the tenure of the Jairam government.

A record 3 thousand 795 km of new roads have been constructed so far in the state during the tenure of the Jai Ram government for four and a half years. Hundreds of villages of the state are connected by road facilities. 3 thousand 527 km of motorable roads have been constructed, while 268 km of jeepable roads have been constructed.

This figure is much higher than the number of roads built during the tenure of any government in Himachal. Apart from this, the state government has so far constructed 268 bridges as well as tarring of 6,610 km of roads.

Road construction during the tenure of the Congress government

From January 2013 to December 2017. During the Congress government led by Virbhadra Singh, only 3,000 km of roads were constructed in a span of five years. Whereas 3 thousand 795 km of roads have been built by the present government.

During the tenure of the previous Congress government, 2,867 km of motorable roads were constructed. Along with this, 133 km of jeepable roads were made. Apart from this, during the tenure of five years, the former Congress government did tarring of 5 thousand 602 kilometers of roads. Which is 1 thousand 8 km less than the tarring done during the current government. At the same time, 255 bridges were built during Congress, while the present government has built 13 more bridges so far.

High command has also appreciated the efforts of the Jairam government

Along with implementing new public welfare schemes in Himachal, the high command has also appreciated Jai Ram Thakur many times for strengthening the infrastructure. This is the reason why Jai Ram Thakur has always been a favorite of the high command. J.P.Nadda himself has said in his rally that was recently held in Himachal, that Jai Ram Thakur is Sharif, talks less, and believes more in working.
