The photo was taken by US Marine Joe O’Donnell shortly after the bombing of Nagasaki The youngest child in the photo is dead and the older brother carried him on his back several kilometers to the carematorium. The soldier noticed him and asked him to give him the dead child so that he would not get tired. To which the boy replied : “He is not heavy, he is my BROTHER”. The soldier shed tears as what he heard. Since then, this image has become a symbol of unity among the Japanese. I want the words of this boy to sound of our lives. “He is not heavy, he is my BROTHER. If he falls, I will pick him up. If he get tired, I will help him, support him and it will never be heavy or hard. Appreciate the BROTHERHOOD..💕
