CSKHPKV Palampur Without Regular VC for 38 Days, Delay Due to Ordinance to Give CM Control Over Appointment
Palampur:- It has been 38 days since Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya (CSKHPKV) Palampur has been without a regular Vice-Chancellor (VC) after the retirement of Prof. H.K. Chaudhary.
So far, Dr. D.K. Vats has been officiating as VC, but without essential powers, which is slowing down the pace of progress and development of the university.
It is now assumed that the delay in appointing a regular VC is due to the University Amendment ordinance (Bill) passed in the Vidhansabha to give the Chief Minister control over the appointment process without any interference from the opposition, in a transparent manner.
However, it is learnt from reliable sources that the Governor and Chief Minister have cordial relations, and the Governor is not willing to create any hurdles or waste time in signing the bill and returning the ordinance to the Chief Minister so that the VC post can be filled without any further delay.
This is in the best interests of the students, faculty, and the university as a whole.
Many important decisions are lying pending, and various important posts need to be filled by a regular VC. It seems that after the notification is published online, the Chief Minister will select and appoint a genuine Congress-supported candidate.
Impact on the University
The absence of a regular VC has had a negative impact on the functioning of CSKHPKV Palampur. Many important decisions are pending, such as the appointment of new faculty members, the filling up of vacant administrative positions, and the launch of new academic programs. The university is also unable to take advantage of new funding opportunities and collaborations.
Students and faculty at CSKHPKV Palampur are concerned about the delay in appointing a regular VC.
They believe that it is hampering the academic and administrative functioning of the university. They have also urged the state government to take immediate steps to fill the vacant position.
