In a significant development, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has initiated a comprehensive project to expand and upgrade the Thakur Dwara and Maranda section of the national highway. The ambitious plan involves transforming the existing road from Parour to Palampur into a double-lane highway, aiming to improve connectivity and ease traffic congestion in the region.
Today marked a crucial milestone in this project as NHAI officials, accompanied by law enforcement agencies, carried out demarcation and encroachment clearance along the designated route. The operation began at Thakur Dwara and proceeded towards the bustling Maranda market area.
One of the focal points of the encroachment removal was the vicinity of the Eye Hospital in Maranda, which has been plagued by encroachments, causing traffic bottlenecks and hindering the hospital’s accessibility. This action is expected to alleviate traffic woes in the area and facilitate smoother commutes for residents and patients.
To ensure the road’s durability and longevity, NHAI plans to construct roadside drains on both sides of the national highway, enhancing its resilience against adverse weather conditions. As part of this development, NHAI has called upon the community to cooperate by refraining from encroaching on the designated 5-meter-wide buffer zone along the highway.
This transformation project is poised to bring about positive changes in the connectivity and infrastructure of the region, promising improved road conditions, reduced traffic congestion, and enhanced safety for all road users.
NHAI’s efforts reflect a commitment to advancing transportation infrastructure for the benefit of the populace and the overall development of the area.
