Free Eye Check-Up Camp Organized by Mela Mal Sood Rotary Eye Hospital Draws Overwhelming Response

In a significant effort towards eye care, the Mela Mal Sood Rotary Eye Hospital in Maranda, Himachal Pradesh, recently conducted a free eye check-up camp at the village of Thural, witnessing an impressive turnout and impacting the lives of many.

 

Under the auspices of Sai Seva Samiti Mansimbal Bhawarna and spearheaded by Roshan Lal Raina, the state coordinator of Sai Sewa Samiti H.P., the camp brought together more than 200 individuals.

Led by Mr. Krishan Swaroop Sharma, the lead optometrist, the camp identified around 35 cataract surgeries that will be performed at the Maranda hospital.

Expressing concern, Sharma highlighted that despite the hospital’s proximity, a significant number of individuals were unaware of prevalent eye ailments, including cataracts and glaucoma. Many had been enduring vision impairment without seeking medical attention, living in darkness due to these conditions.

Grateful beneficiaries extended their thanks to the hospital and Roshan Lal Raina for their compassionate initiative.

 

Mr. K.S. Sharma emphasized in an interview with India Reporter Today, the hospital’s emergence as a beacon of eye care excellence in North India.

Established four decades ago by Dr. Shiv Kumar, a renowned social worker and the founder & chartered president of Rotary Club of Palampur, the MMS Rotary Eye Hospital Maranda has served over half a crore OPD cases and conducted over three lakh surgeries under the guidance of India’s most seasoned surgeons, employing cutting-edge equipment worth crores.

Sharma commended the hospital’s direction under the leadership of Mr. Raghav Sharma, the hospital’s General Manager and worthy son of Lt. Dr. Shiv Kumar ji, founder of REH.

He highlighted the hospital’s commitment to providing top-notch eye care at minimal charges, often treating patients for free or under government health schemes.
