Delay in Construction of Retaining Wall at Sri Anandpur Satsang Ashram Maranda Raises Concerns of Flooding and Property Damage

The Sub-Divisional Officer of the Public Works Department (SDO PWD) in Bhawarna is under scrutiny for the prolonged delay in the construction of a retaining wall at the Sri Anandpur Satsang Ashram. This delay has ignited concerns among devotees regarding potential flooding and property damage. Despite urgent pleas from the community, the necessary infrastructure remains incomplete, leaving the ashram vulnerable to the elements and posing a significant risk to both property and lives.

It is learnt that In a bid to safeguard the Sri Anandpur Satsang Ashram in Maranda from the threat of rainy water and nullah floods, the then Health Minister, Vipin Singh Parmar, sanctioned an amount of Rs one lakh. However, this amount falls significantly short of the total expenditure required, which stands at almost 4 lakhs. The partial payment was received from the Deputy Commissioner of Kangra for the construction of a retaining wall aimed at protecting the land and buildings.

Despite the urgent need and the partial funding, the job remains pending for about four years in the office of the Sub-Divisional Officer of Public Works Department (SDO PWD) in Bhawarna. This delay has left the devotees of the Sri Anandpur Satsang Mandir increasingly concerned about the safety of the property, which is estimated to be worth crores of rupees. Furthermore, there are fears of potential loss of life if flooding were to occur.

In light of the prolonged inaction, devotees have pleaded with the SDO PWD Bhawarna to allocate additional funds and expedite the construction of the retaining wall to mitigate the risks of flooding and property damage. They emphasize the critical importance of this infrastructure to protect both the physical structures and the lives of those associated with the ashram.

Additionally, the attention of the Deputy Commissioner of Kangra has been drawn to the matter, with a request to intervene and address the delays. The devotees stress that failure to take immediate action would hold the concerned department responsible for any ensuing damage or loss.

The community anxiously awaits a swift resolution to this pressing issue, urging authorities to prioritize the safety and well-being of the Sri Anandpur Satsang Ashram and its devotees.
