The Indian Meteorological Center has issued a warning of heavy rainfall and snowfall in some areas of Kangra district until February 21. Deputy Commissioner Hem Raj Bairwa, IAS advised caution during the precipitation, urging people to avoid areas prone to avalanches, landslides, and high-altitude regions. He also cautioned against trekking in bad weather, highlighting the potential dangers. Bairwa emphasized restrictions around rivers and streams to prevent any untoward incidents. He instructed all panchayat representatives to remain vigilant. Given the forecasted heavy rainfall, he urged against unnecessary travel, advising people to stay in safe locations and avoid risks. Bairwa appealed to district residents to contact the toll-free disaster management center at 1077 in case of emergencies. Disaster management centers will remain open in all sub-districts, including the district headquarters. This proactive approach aims to ensure the safety and well-being of residents during potentially hazardous weather conditions.
